Shekel (double-sided) Cufflinks : Jewish Museum, New York
Adapted from a coin in the collection of The Jewish Museum, New York The Jewish Museum is under the auspices of the Jewish Museum Theological Seminary of America. In 66 CE, the Jews rebelled against Roman rule and began to mint their own coins, called shekels, as a sign of their independence. The coins in these earrings were cast from a half-shekel in The Jewish Museum collection which dates to the first year of the revolt. The imagery and inscriptions are entirely Jewish in nature: a chalice with an ancient Hebrew inscription denoting the date and denomination; and a branch with pomegranates, one of the Seven Species of Israel, surrounded by the inscription, "Holy Jerusalem." Sterling Silver. $145.95

Athenian Owl Cufflinks : 525 - 430BC : Art Institute of Chicago
Athenian Owl (Goddess of Wisdom) cufflinks from an original coin dated c. 525 - 430BC now in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. The obverse shows the head of Athena, tutelary goddess of the ancient city-state of Athens, which worshipped her in many shrines, notably the Parthenon (the temple of Athena Parthenos). As on this coin, the goddess is usually depicted with a helmet, reminiscent of the myth of her birth: that she emerged, in full armor, from the head of her father, Zeus. The fighting Goddess of Wisdom, her symbol is the owl. This owl is depicted on the reverse of the coin, together with the first three letters of the Greek word Athens (AOE). The coin is a tetradrachm or four drachmai. The drachma was a unit of weight and hence, as this weight in silver, a unit of money. The silver original, a gift of W. F. Dunham, is in the Art Institute of Chicago. The reverse of the cufflink design is engraved with the name of the goddess Athena in Greek and English. Sterling Silver $145.95

Working Tools Tuxedo Set
The symbolism in this set is just wonderful. It includes each of the principal working tools, The Plumb, Square and Level, as well as the Trowel, to be worn as shirt studs. The cufflinks are meant to be worn with the Moon cufflink on your left hand, and the Sun on your right. Evocative of not only the Junior and Senior Deacons, but also the Masculine/Feminine, the regularity over which you should govern your life, and the thought that every man spends his life some where between the Sun and the Moon, the moon on his left, and the Sun on his right, when he is facing South, the seat of Beauty.
